One of the most significant sources of problems in contemporary Bulgaria and many other countries is the toxic political influence of the Russian Federation and the idealisation of Russia by certain populist politicians and citizens.

Confetti – fun at first glance, even beautiful under certain light – is in fact irritating, it gets everywhere, sticks to everything, creeps into every nook and cranny, hides beneath furniture, lurks in every shadow. It is bad for the environment, it is garbage. Just like the Russian influence.

The Party’s Over: The Russian Influence in Bulgaria is not a xenophobic reaction toward Russian citizens who, for one reason or another, have found a temporary or permanent home outside Russia. It is not a reaction against the influence of the great Russian writers, artists, composers, and filmmakers. It is a work against the outdated form of aggressive imperialism that Russia is now attempting to revive – an imperialism the greater part of the world sought to put an end to after the Second World War.
